Tijuana Ministry

The Tijuana Ministry provides opportunities for education, immersion, and commitment to promote human dignity. Every year, we travel to Tijuana, Mexico to build houses for some of the poorest families in Northern America. We also run outreach programs for local children, teens, and mothers.  This year's trip is July 6-13, 2024.

Shower Program

The shower program was started by volunteers from Holy Spirit and then joined by Larry Cargnoni and Monica Rising.  They then partnered with Our Lady of Refuge Parish, Catholic Charities, and Grace Solutions. They offer basic hygiene and friendship to our neighbors without homes through the dignity of a hot shower. For people surviving on the streets, having access to basic hygiene can make a world of difference. Volunteers needed every Wednesday from 6pm- 8:30pm and Thursday afternoon from 12pm-5pm.

Casa de Clara
San Jose Catholic Worker

Each Catholic Worker community is rooted in Jesus’ vision of God’s Reign among us, committed to a shared life of prayer and action in joyful service to people on the margins. In San Jose, Casa de Clara provides shelter to unhoused women and children and sometimes families when the need arises.  They also regularly make food for the local unhoused and campaign for a variety of Justice issues.  They are a separate non-profit, but members of BASICS have assisted Casa de Clara with renovations, landscaping, fundraising, and meal preparations
